Quartz var. Mango Quartz with Halloysite – Intricate Lustrous Needle Cluster with Saturated Orange-Yellow Terminations
Specifications
Description
An exceptional Colombian “Mango Quartz” specimen, composed of a dense and highly intricate cluster of slender, lustrous quartz crystals colored by halloysite inclusions. The specimen presents as a refined spray of fine needle-like crystals, with strong three-dimensional development and a complete, all-around presentation. The quartz crystals are notably delicate and elegant, forming a complex intergrown cluster of narrow prismatic points. Their clarity is unusually good for the style, allowing the internal orange-yellow coloration to show with depth and brightness rather than appearing merely as surface staining. The finest visual feature is the concentration of color at the crystal tips, where the halloysite produces deeply saturated mango-orange to golden-yellow terminations. This creates a vivid and highly desirable contrast between the clearer crystal bodies and the warm, glowing caps. The luster is bright and glassy, giving the many small terminations a sparkling, lively appearance under light. The needle crystals appear sharply formed, with crisp terminations and a pleasing sense of movement through the cluster. Because the specimen is described as complete all around and virtually damage-free, it has the quality collectors seek in these Colombian halloysite-included quartz specimens: delicacy without fragility in appearance, strong color concentration, and clean overall preservation. This is a fine example of Mango Quartz from Boyacá, distinguished by its intricate crystal habit, excellent luster, good transparency, saturated orange-yellow tips, and unusually pristine condition. It would display especially well under focused lighting, where the colored terminations and glassy needle crystals can fully express their brilliance.
