Description

A superbly proportioned Topaz crystal rising vertically from a sculptural bed of snow-white albite, accented by contrasting black schorl crystals—an exceptional small cabinet specimen from Dassu. The Topaz displays a tall, elongated prismatic form with crisp edges and a sharply defined, symmetrical termination. Its color is a refined cognac to champagne hue, subtly zoned, with a richer concentration toward the upper portion. The crystal is notably transparent, revealing impressive internal clarity with delicate veils and fine linear growth features that add character without diminishing its gemminess. When illuminated from below, the body color intensifies dramatically, emphasizing the remarkable clarity and the glassy, high vitreous luster across the prism faces. Vertical striations run cleanly along the length of the crystal, enhancing its architectural presence. The termination is razor-sharp and highly reflective, free of significant damage. At the base, the Topaz emerges naturally from a luminous albite matrix composed of bladed, pearly white crystals arranged in rosette-like aggregates. Small, lustrous schorl crystals provide bold black contrast against the white matrix and warm Topaz tones. Measuring 5.5 × 4 × 4 cm and weighing 73 grams, this piece exemplifies balance, clarity, luster, and ideal matrix presentation—qualities seldom united in contemporary material from the region.
